A full moon with a pensive face shines between two towers, dripping dewlike drops onto the land. A dog and a wolf howl at it from either side of a winding path while a crayfish crawls out of a dark pool, a dreamy picture of instinct, fear and the unknown.
As card 18 of the Major Arcana, it belongs to the final leg of the Fool's Journey, where the traveler faces shadow, upheaval and hope before reaching wholeness.
At a glance
The Moon upright
Not everything is as it appears and your imagination is filling in the gaps. Move slowly and trust your instincts over your anxieties.
Upright keywords
- Illusion
- Uncertainty
- Intuition
- Dreams
The Moon reversed
The fog is starting to lift. Confusion clears and the scary shadows turn out to be coat racks.
Reversed keywords
- Clarity returning
- Released fear
- Exposed secrets
In love
Mixed signals and unspoken feelings. Do not fill silence with worst-case stories; ask directly.
Career & money
Information is incomplete. Hold off on big commitments until the facts are clearer.
Yes or no?
The Moon usually answers no, or at least "not like this." Reversed, the no softens into "not yet", so ask again once the situation has genuinely shifted.
Walk slowly through the fog and trust your feet.
