The Butterfly
32-37 tiles. Rare, vivid and suspiciously good with color.
Curious what yours would be?
Try it yourselfPortrait of a Butterfly
Butterflies are some of the most color-equipped creatures on Earth. One species, the common bluebottle, has been found to have 15 types of photoreceptors, compared with our three cone types. They use that gear to find flowers and to recognize each other by wing patterns we can barely see. You are playing in that league.
Reaching this tier means you kept going deep into the levels where the shade difference bottoms out at its smallest, on the biggest 8x8 boards, with very few wrong taps. That is rare. The downside: you have opinions about "off-white" versus "eggshell", and you have shared them with people who did not ask.
Strengths
- Top-tier sensitivity to tiny shade differences
- Fast and accurate even on 8x8 grids
- Strong visual memory for color
- Calm, efficient scanning
Blind spots
- Paint shopping takes you three hours
- Notices when a brand changes its logo by 2%
- Cannot enjoy a badly calibrated TV
Where it shows up
Butterflies often work with color without realizing it is a superpower: retouching photos, matching fabrics, grading video, styling, illustration. Only the Mantis Shrimp tier sits above you, and it is reserved for flawless, speedy runs.
